Migration Updates

How to read a migration program change without panicking

Lists, thresholds and settings change regularly. What matters is whether a change touches your specific position.

Program changes generate a great deal of noise. Occupation lists are revised, thresholds move, state nomination settings open and close, and fee and processing settings shift.

Most changes will not apply to you

A change matters to you only if it touches a criterion your pathway depends on. The useful question is never "what changed" but "which of my assumptions is no longer safe".

What to check when something changes

Identify which criteria your plan relies on. Check whether the change affects that criterion, transitional arrangements, or only new applications. Then check whether your timing is still workable. Most of the time the answer is that nothing about your plan has moved.

Where we sit

We monitor changes so clients do not have to interpret announcements written for practitioners. When something genuinely affects a client's position, we say so and revisit the plan. When it does not, we say that too.

A case assessment is a structured review of your circumstances and the pathways they support. You'll get an honest read on where you stand — including when the answer isn't the one you were hoping for.
