What sponsoring an employee actually commits you to

Sponsorship is a compliance relationship, not a hiring shortcut. Understanding the obligations before an offer is made protects everyone.

Employers usually come to sponsorship with a vacancy and a candidate, and treat the visa as an administrative step at the end. It is better understood as an ongoing compliance relationship that begins before the offer.

Obligations to understand first

Sponsorship carries record-keeping duties, requirements about the terms and conditions of employment, restrictions on the position and its duties, notification obligations when circumstances change, and exposure if the arrangement does not match what was nominated.

Why order matters

Nomination requirements shape the role itself — its duties, its remuneration, its location. Designing the position after the offer has been made frequently means renegotiating with the candidate or abandoning the arrangement.

What we do for employers

We assess whether the role and the candidate can support a nomination, set out the obligations plainly, and structure the sequence so the business is not making commitments it cannot document later. We do not tell employers that sponsorship is straightforward when the specific facts say otherwise.

Every migration case deserves a strategy.

A case assessment is a structured review of your circumstances and the pathways they support. You'll get an honest read on where you stand — including when the answer isn't the one you were hoping for.
